Welcome to Red Feather Lakes 2/3 Classroom!
I am excited and honored to work side by side with your child who will be my focus from day one. Your child will discover all that he/she can become academically and socially in a community of learners. Our first few weeks of school will focus on building trust in our student/teacher relationship, building a classroom community, and building an understanding of the expectations and procedures throughout the school day. I want our partnership to be an open dialogue about your child's growth, strengths, and opportunities for challenge and improvement. I look forward to this ongoing journey of discovery, learning, and growth for your child!
My Favorite Children’s Book or Author:
My favorite author is the author of the book we are currently reading. Our Read-Aloud now is Because of Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo. We are enjoying every word and picture this fun-loving author paints in our minds. I also love any book by Jane Yolen, Angela Johnson and Pam Munoz Ryan. All of Roald Dahl’s books are always on my favorites' list, too.
What I love most about teaching:
Every year is so different from the last, so teaching is never stagnant. I especially love being a part of the child’s development in reading and writing! I love to be a part of the surprise and excitement demonstrated when they discover something new and recognize that they can do anything placed before them.
My Hometown
I am one of the few native Coloradoans left! I was born and raised in Greeley, Colorado. Yet, I feel Red Feather Lakes and Glacier View are my "real" homes. My husband and I have lived in the area since 1979! Our three daughters attended Red Feather Elementary when it was first built in 1985!
Something I like to do outside of school/in the summer:
I love spending time with my grown daughters and their families, and especially with my grandchildren! I love my friends and the close-knit community that I live with here in Glacier View. I enjoy exercising, snowshoeing and hiking here and around Glacier View and the Front Range.. Finally, I love to experiment with new foods and share them with everyone!
Something else I want to share with you.
My husband and I have six beautiful grandchildren that make our lives totally complete!
